Tom Hoefling
I am an abortion abolitionist, in spite of all of those who are compromising the basic principles of abolitionism in the way they do their politics. Why? Because conscience dictates that abortion must be abolished. I am against socialism, in spite of all of those who also say they're against socialism while supporting every unconstitutional socialist government program under the sun. Why? Because socialism is theft, writ large, and it destroys nations and peoples. I love my children and grandchildren, and I don't want to see them destroyed, economically and politically. I'm a conservative, in spite of all of those who have made a mockery out of that title. Why? Because the American system of republican, constitutional self-government built on the natural, God-ordained moral law is worth preserving and conserving. I'm a republican, small "r," in spite of the political party that continues to dishonor that honorable title. Why? Because the American system of republican, constitutional self-government built on the natural, God-ordained moral law is the best form of human government there is in this fallen, sinful world, and it's worth fighting for. I'm a Christian, in spite of the large percentage of Americans who have taken that label upon themselves while putting the lie to it in the way they act in their civic life. I'm a Christian, in spite of my own terrible failures to live up to that most honorable of titles. Because, Christianity is all about repentance, and mercy, and grace, and perseverance. Figure out who you are, and what you stand for, folks. And then stand, without wavering. Otherwise, moral compromise is going to be the death of us all. Ignore the hypocrites and the liars, and simply resolve to do what is right, no matter what anyone else may or may not do. Tom Hoefling
"If We the People continue to fail to put God, and truth, and principle before personality, party, or process, the republic cannot possibly be saved. But once we begin to do what is right, without compromise, nothing on earth can stand in our way."
-- Tom Hoefling "I have no problem at all compromising on insignificant things, like what we're going to have for dinner. But on the equal protection of innocent human life, the securing of the Blessings of Liberty to our Posterity, the protection of marriage and the family, the preservation of our right to keep and bear arms, the defense of our national sovereignty, security and borders, and adherence to our constitutional form of republican, representative self-government, there can be no compromise."
-- Tom Hoefling "And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for the second; that second for a third; and so on, till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery, to have no sensibilities left but for sinning and suffering."
-- Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Samuel Kercheval, Monticello, July 12, 1816 "We have a political class that has become unprincipled, and they have created a political process that is not of the people, by the people, or for the people. Now, you can try and fix the process without addressing the lack of principle, but, at best, all you're likely to accomplish is to create a more efficient means of tyranny. No, get the principles right, quit compromising them, and then fixing the process will be easy."
-- Tom Hoefling, April 23, 2012 "In politics the middle way is none at all. "
-- John Adams J.D. Ellis,
Vice Presidential Nominee, America's Party "By perseverance and fortitude we have the prospect of a glorious issue; by cowardice and submission, the sad choice of a variety of evils...." --Thomas Paine, The Crisis, December 23, 1776 The impending Republican nomination of the most successfully liberal governor in American history provides true moral, Constitutional conservatives the best chance we are likely to have to wrestle from off our necks the boot of a tyrannical two-party system. If the nomination of Romney will not convince us of the complete moral and Constitutional compromise of the Republican Party, then we must either be the sheep that the GOP takes us for, or else we are in league with the wolf. Now is the time to help the Republican Party to their rightful place in the graveyard of history, to lay forgotten alongside their compromised predecessors, the Whigs, as we work together to raise up new vehicles of principled statesmanship. "By perseverance and fortitude we have the prospect of a glorious issue; by cowardice and submission, the sad choice of a variety of evils...." |
