Tom Hoefling for Iowa
For immediate release March 31, 2014 Contact: tomhoefling@gmail.com More than two weeks ago, on March 16th, Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Hoefling challenged incumbent Governor Terry Branstad to a series of five debates in the run up to the June 3rd GOP primary. Tom Hoefling today said, “In fifteen days, we have heard nothing back from the Governor or his campaign. As the challenger, I’ve done my part. The ball remains in his court.” The Hoefling debate proposal includes four smaller events hosted and organized by willing county GOP organizations within the four congressional districts, and would culminate in a large venue debate hosted by the state party. Any proceeds would be split proportionally between the various party organizations participating, for use in electing local Republicans in November. Moderation would be provided by the state and county party chairmen. Hoefling said at the time, “I think ‘Building Iowa’s Future,’ which is Terry Branstad’s campaign theme, is the right focus for debate. But I also think that the people of Iowa deserve to hear both candidates in this primary explain fully what they think that future should look like.” He added, “If Governor Branstad does not find this reasonable, constructive proposal to be acceptable, I am willing to debate any time, anywhere in the state, under any circumstance.” ### Tom Hoefling:
"My thanks to everyone who attended the Liberty on the Rocks event in Des Moines last night for giving me a good listen!" CNSNEWS By PHILLIP RAWLS, Associated Press Former Alabama Sen. Thank you for your great sacrifices for our country."
"In brief, I support Representative Tom Shaw’s House file 138, which will ban abortion and restore equal protection to all persons in our state. I defend one man-one woman marriage and believe that any judge who exceeds his authority must be removed. I fully support the passage of Constitutional Carry legislation, and oppose any law or regulation that in any way infringes on our God-given right to keep and bear arms. I strongly oppose Common Core. It must die. In fact, we must go even further and restore true local control of our schools, which means, of course, restoring control of our education dollars to parents and local taxpayers. And last, I believe that real economic development can only occur with public policies that equally protect and benefit all Iowans, not just a favored few."

It was from an individual who knows and understands the importance of the unbending stand we have taken for many years for equal protection under the law for the unborn. Our thanks go out to this generous donor, not just for the fuel they are providing for our campaign's tank, but for THEIR tireless work to secure the Blessings of Liberty to our Posterity.
Now, I understand that not everyone can give that much. But every little bit makes a difference. It adds up. Before anything else, they need love. They need truth. They need protection from the evil that is in this world. Can government bureaucrats give them any of those things? Not really. As George Washington rightfully said, 'government is FORCE.' It's not love. It's not caring. Only parents, the ones who were entrusted by God with the duty to raise up their children to be good, decent human beings and honest, patriotic citizens, can provide that, with the help of a responsible, caring community, in cooperation with good teachers. That's the primary reason I continue to advocate for T.L.C., which is True Local Control, of our schools. The financial, governmental reasons for these reforms are very real as well, but the primary motivator for me is the restoration of the love, the nurture, and the protection of our posterity."
-- Tom Hoefling, 2014 Republican candidate for Iowa governor "Debt, both public and private, is the bane of liberty. It drives nations and men to poverty and despair. We should be fighting it like the plague it is, instead of passing it along to our children and grandchildren."
-- Tom Hoefling Chuck Grassley Leads Effort to Defund Common Core in U.S. Senate
Caffeinated Thoughts (Washington, DC) Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter seeking cosigners for a letter that will be sent to the leaders of the Senate Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Appropriations Subcommittee – Senators Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) asking that they include language in their next appropriations bill to block the further use of any funding from the U.S. Department of Education to incentivize or otherwise coerce states into adopting and retaining the Common Core State Standards. Read this story at caffeinatedthoughts.com ... College students and others at George Mason University were dumbstruck by the tedious nature of an elementary level Common Core problem during a short series of interviews conducted by Campus Reform last week. The problem, 32-12, was demonstrated to those on campus the traditional way and juxtaposed with the Common Core method.

The smallest particles have their influence.
Such is our state, that each individual has a proportion of influence on some neighbor at least; he, on another, and so on; as in a river, the following drop urges that which is before, and every one through the whole length of the stream has like influence. We know not, what individuals may do. We are not at liberty to lie dormant until we can, at once, influence the whole. We must begin with the weight we have. Should the little springs neglect to flow till a general agreement should take place, the torrent that now bears down all before it, would never be formed. These mighty floods have their rise in single drops from the rocks, which, uniting, creep along till they meet with another combination so small that it might be absorbed by the travelers foot. These unite, proceed, enlarge, till mountains tremble at their sound. Let us receive instruction from the streams, and without discouragement, pursue a laudable plan.” -- Nathaniel Niles Tom Hoefling for Iowa
