We fought the political status quo, and the status quo won an overwhelming victory.

In other words, nothing important has changed. Tomorrow, they will still be murdering innocent, helpless babies in our state, under the color of "law." Even though the supreme law of the land, and of our state, explicitly requires the equal protection of the right to life of every person.

Tomorrow, in Iowa, they will still be pretending to "marry" men to men, and women to women, even though such is an obvious violation of the laws of nature and nature's God, and the Iowa Code.

Tomorrow, in Iowa and across our land, judges will still believe, and act as if, they rule over us, and over our constitutions and laws, with few in the executive or legislative branches with the understanding, will, and courage to disabuse them of that false notion.

Tomorrow, in Iowa, the insidious Common Core final takeover of our local schools will continue apace, with the support of our incumbent governor and the rest of the political establishment.

Tomorrow, the leaders of the State of Iowa will still be pushing crony capitalism, ie legal plunder, ie state socialism, while pretending that it is "economic development."

Tomorrow, Iowa will still have the highest corporate tax rate in America, and one of the highest personal income tax rates in the country, higher than New York's.

And all of that is before we even have begun to discuss what is being done to us at the national level, and will continue to be done to us tomorrow, because We the People have not yet found the will to rein them in.

One last thing, on a more encouraging note. Tomorrow I will still have the best, most principled friends and supporters in Iowa. Maybe not enough of them yet, but hey, you have to start somewhere. 26,000 people is a lot of people!

My challenge of Terry Branstad in the GOP primary on Tuesday gives you a chance to send a powerful message.

If you oppose Branstad's Common Core takeover of our schools and his bloated state budget that's a billion dollars bigger than Chet Culver's, I need your vote.

If, like me, you find it unacceptable that we have the highest income tax rates in the country, and you want fundamental tax reform, I’m your guy. 

If you're tired of the lip service to the principles you care about - on life, on marriage, on judges - and you're ready for conservative action, all you have to do to do is check Hoefling rather than Branstad on your ballot.

Today Iowa Right to Life didn't endorse me for Governor in the June 3rd Republican primary. Which is no surprise, since I didn't fill out their candidate questionnaire.

Why not?

Because their language told me right up front that I couldn't possibly earn their endorsement, even though I've spent the last two decades as an uncompromising right-to-lifer, in political battles all across the land.

In order to answer their questions "correctly," I would have had to agree to support legislation that I know to be immoral, unconstitutional, illegal, and futile. Lawless "laws" that, in effect, end in "and then you can kill the baby," which grant express permission to commit most abortions, despite the fact that God forbids murder, without exception, and even though our Constitution explicitly and imperatively REQUIRES equal protection for the right to life of EVERY PERSON, in every jurisdiction in America. IT’S NOT OPTIONAL.

There are only two scriptural, moral, constitutional, legal, and political arguments against the practice of human abortion: 1) The God-given, unalienable, nature of the individual right to live, and 2) the absolute obligation borne by all officers of government, in every branch, at every level, to provide equal protection under the law. Those two all-important principles also happen to be the basis for the rule of law in America, and for our form of republican, constitutional self-government. Destroy those principles, as permitting abortion, any abortion, does, and you have obliterated the foundations of our American claim to liberty.

The bills that continue to be forwarded by IRTL, and their parent organization, National Right to Life, which they were asking me to agree to, surrender those arguments right up front.

Of course, they had no problem endorsing my opponent, Governor Terry Branstad.

Again, I’m not at all surprised. But here’s the problem with continuing to cede a “pro-life” label to politicians like Mr. Branstad: In order to write a truly pro-life bill, one that actually fulfills the explicit, absolute requirements of the Iowa and the U.S. Constitutions, that all persons be protected equally in their God-given, unalienable right to live, you have to erase Terry Branstad's, and Iowa Right to Life’s, entire "pro-life" legacy from the Iowa Code.

I know. I helped craft Tom Shaw's House File 138, which meets the moral and constitutional test of a true pro-life bill. In addition to rightly identifying the unborn child as a person, its language scrubbed all the unconstitutional Branstad/IRTL code sections that permit abortion.

Of course, the Branstad Republican establishment consistently insisted on burying HF-138 in sub-committee, while pushing even more unconstitutional "pro-life" legislation, so that they could then go out again and pretend to their naive pro-life constituency that they are doing something to stop this American holocaust.

Wake up, people. Read your own constitutions, and start demanding that those who represent you fulfill the primary purpose and duty of their offices, which is the defense of the supreme right of every single individual human being, the right to live.

My opponent in the June 3rd GOP gubernatorial primary, Terry Branstad, prefers that the electorate remain ignorant of their choices in this election.

He admitted as much last night in a speech to Republicans in Des Moines:

Now, this is not a surprise for anyone who has been paying attention. When I made the ballot and challenged him to five debates, he refused to participate in even one, saying, basically, that he was too busy being governor. He’s too busy to defend his support for the Common Core/Iowa Core final takeover of our local schools.

He’s too busy to defend his strong public advocacy of a ‘bullying bill” which is a centerpiece of the homosexual agenda, and nanny statism carried to the extreme.

He’s too busy to defend his budget that is a billion dollars bigger than his liberal Democrat predecessor’s.

He’s too busy to defend Iowa’s corporate income tax rate, which is the highest in America, and a personal income tax rate that is higher than New York’s.

He’s too busy to defend his crony capitalist public policies that masquerade as “economic development.”

He’s too busy to defend his inaction on providing equal protection for the innocent unborn; protection that our national and state constitutions explicitly and imperatively require.

He’s too busy to defend his inaction on restoring one man-one woman marriage, which our state law, to this day, mandates.

He’s too busy to defend his inaction on reining in lawless, out-of-control judges.

He’s too busy to defend his inaction on Constitutional Carry legislation which will restore law-abiding citizens' full Second Amendment rights.

Well, We the People of Iowa now have the opportunity to make sure that after June 3rd, Mr. Branstad will not be so busy any more.

Help spread the word. There is still time. Let others know that they do have a choice. Let’s get the conservatives out to vote on Tuesday, June 3rd, and together, let’s chart a new principled course in the First-In-The-Nation-Caucus State of Iowa.

DES MOINES — Lohrville Republican Tom Hoefling has set his sights high in making his first bid for statewide elective office in Iowa.

He’s taking on the longest-serving governor in U.S. history in Iowa’s June 3 Republican primary election, and trying to deny Gov. Terry Branstad an unprecedented sixth four-year term.

“I think we’ve got to do what we think is right and leave the results to God,” said Hoefling, 53, who conceded that political experts probably don’t give him much of a chance given Branstad’s huge money advantage and name recognition. But he’s counting on Iowans’ dissatisfaction with government to buoy his chances.

To my fellow Iowans and all Americans,

"Gay marriage" is an attempted coup d'etat against God, against nature, and against We the People of the United States. I assure you that neither God nor nature will be overthrown. The only question is whether the American people will allow themselves to be overthrown by lawless judges and their supine enablers in the other two branches. The verdict is still out.

Here in our state, we have been on the front lines of combating this coup for a long time now. A few years back, We the People of Iowa removed three of the lawless state supreme court justices who ruled against true marriage via retention election. This was unprecedented.

But the remaining four judges stayed on the bench, simply because the Democrats, AND our Republican leaders in the Iowa House, refused to forward the impeachment resolutions we offered.

Obviously, we have a lot of work to do, starting with cleaning up our own house.

But we have only just begun to fight here in the first-in-the-nation Caucus state.

Our preparation of the political battlefield for 2016, concerning the defense of marriage, and the defense of innocent human life, is critically important to our nation’s survival.

Tonight I intend to go to Council Bluffs to stand with our veterans at the city council meeting.

The Vietnam Vets were kept out of a local parade because their float contained a Tiger Cage, meant to depict the cages that our POWs were kept in by their Vietnamese captors.

This is all so stupid. If it weren't for men who were willing to risk ending up in a Tiger Cage, or dead, we wouldn't be able to do things like hold parades.

Dear fellow Iowa Republican,

 If you oppose Common Core, and the federal control over our children’s education that it entails, your choice for governor in the Republican primary election on June 3rd is clear cut.

Terry Branstad supports Common Core, even though he tries to mask that support by using the “Iowa Core” phony label. Do even a little research and you will find that Iowa Core IS Common Core, by another name.

I strenuously OPPOSE Common Core. I am devoted to making sure that it dies a quick death.

But even more than that, I am committed to restoring what I call “T.L.C.,” or True Local Control, over our schools. Parental rights and duties are God-given, and therefore are NOT negotiable!

It makes no practical sense to keep sending our education dollars to Des Moines, and to Washington, D.C., so that they can run those dollars through a huge bureaucracy, before they send a fraction of our money back to us with strings attached.

Bureaucrats do not educate a single child. Only parents, churches, local communities, and teachers can do that.

We need ACTION, not more talk. Not only must we kill Common Core, we need fundamental tax reform that will KEEP OUR MONEY AT HOME.

If you agree, I need your vote on June 3rd.  And I need you to bring your family and friends to the polls with you.

"Just as 'good fences make for good neighbors,' good government is mainly about knowing where the legitimate boundaries are, and having the courage to defend those borders forcefully. This is true in terms of the defense of our territory, our security, and our national sovereignty, but it also applies to the sworn duty of all of those in government to equally protect the God-given, unalienable rights of each individual person, from their creation onward, their sacred obligation to stay well within the enumerated powers of our constitutions, and of the role legitimate government must play in balancing the competing rights and interests of the people, in order to establish justice."
