"Conscience is the most sacred of all property."
-- James Madison "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism who should labor to subvert these great Pillars...Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle...Morality is a necessary spring of popular government...Who that is a sincere friend to it can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation?
And of fatal tendency...to put, in the place of the delegated will of the Nation, the will of a party; - often a small but artful and enterprising minority...They are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the Power of the People and to usurp for the themselves the reins of Government; destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion... But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism...Disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an Individual...(who) turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty...The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism..." Let there be no change by usurpation...It is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed." -- George Washington, Farewell Address pjmedia.com Instapundit heads the piece “Why Barack Obama Should Resign.” That’s a good title. The column might also be titled, “Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid.” I remember a line from the philosopher David Hume that Hayek used as an epigraph to The Road to Serfdom. “It is seldom,” said Hume, “that liberty of any kind is lost all at once.” There’s the innocent seeming accommodation here, the turning a blind eye to official violations of the law there, and, bang, before you can say Saul Alinsky, people are being rounded up at midnight by brownshirted men for making a movie that embarrasses El Presidente. In case you think that is a baseless exaggeration by a knuckle-dragging, right-wing hater, take a look at the photo: By way of explication, Glenn Reynolds quotes the L.A. Times: “Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.”
Got that? The chap made a movie. (He may also have violated probation, but that herring is red, Comrade.) As Glenn observes, “By sending — literally — brownshirted enforcers to engage in — literally — a midnight knock at the door of a man for the non-crime of embarrassing the President of the United States and his administration, President Obama violated that oath. . . . It is a betrayal of his duties as President, and a disgrace.” Yep. And he should resign. And, as Glenn further observes, he surely won’t. But the people of the United States, Democrat as well as Republican, should turn him out of office ignominiously in November. FreeRepublic.com
by Fedora If you asked Americans who carries the most clout in political funding, liberals would typically answer corporations, while conservatives might name labor unions, and both would have a point, but few would probably think to mention a PAC called ActBlue. In fact, however, since its launch in June 2004, this PAC has become America's top political donor, ahead of both the AFSCME and AT&T in contributions made between 1989 and 2012, according to data compiled from FEC sources by the Center for Responsive Politics. According to ActBlue's own website, the organization had raised over $290 million in contributions as of September 16, 2012. Per the Center for Responsive Politics' most recent tallies, over $18 million of this total was raised during 2011-2012, with leading chunks going to California Democratic Congressional candidates, among others. Where is this money coming from? Well, here's the interesting part: anyone can donate online. ActBlue functions as a clearinghouse for donations raised from other sources. If an individual or organization wants to raise money through other online or mobile channels, they can funnel it through ActBlue. The Direct Route: A Soros Connection Sometimes the donations are made directly, if quietly. For example, one investigator was able to document an instance of ActBlue receiving a donation from George Soros, whose fundraising organization Democracy Alliance has maintained a behind-the-scenes relationship with ActBlue. (For more on this, see Andrew Stiles' article "The Soros Summit -FB exclusive:Inside the secret Miami meeting-George Soros’s liberal conspiracy ", posted on FR with commentary by STARWISE.) The Indirect Route: Another Soros Connection Sometimes the donations are more indirect. For example, one fundraising partner of ActBlue is the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), another PAC dedicated to electing what it characterizes as "bold progressives." The PCCC was cofounded by Adam Green, former Strategic Campaigns and Civic Communications Director for Soros' funding vehicle MoveOn.org, and Stephanie Taylor, who worked for the Service Employees International Union and the AFL-CIO before joining Green at MoveOn.org. Using channels such as former Congressman Alan Grayson and actions like the Wisconsin Recall, the PCCC has pushed Congressional Democrats and the Obama administration to support an even more radical agenda, with an insistence so confrontational and uncompromising that more establishment-oriented fundraisers like former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel have labeled it tactically "retarded." This official contempt, however, has not stopped the PCCC from contributing significantly to Democratic coffers. Riding the coattails of Elizabeth Warren's warm-up for Bill Clinton's speech at the 2012 Democratic National Convention, the PCCC placed ads on Google and Facebook, the latter using ActBlue to sell t-shirts and bumper stickers displaying the slogan "I'm from the Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party." Where's the Accountability? The PCCC is operating openly here, but what's to stop anonymous contributors and front groups from using channels like, say, PayPal to send donations to external sites for funneling through ActBlue? Apparently nothing. In November 2008 Michelle Malkin followed up on the research of Kenneth Timmerman by quoting an insider source who opined: I have over 7 years experience in the payment services industry, and I have never seen such flagrant disregard for online security as I have seen on Obama’s Website and ACTBLUE (DNC PAC). In an age of identity theft and rampant online fraud, it is unconscionable for anyone to maintain an ecommerce site without the basic security features.. .There is no plausible explanation for these security violations other than wanting to skirt around campaign finance rules. I would vigorously argue that a large portion of Obama’s $579 million in individual contributions is in violation of campaign finance laws. Many donations may have been made by non US citizens, made in excess of the $2,300 individual limit, and made on stolen credit card numbers. . .This fraudulent donation scandal goes deeper than just the presidential election. 33 Democratic Candidates running for Senate have sites that are out of compliance. And a large number of Democratic House seats as well. That was 2008. Has anything changed in the last four years? Perhaps, but if so, the updates went far enough below the radar that I did not find anything about them while writing this piece. As far as I know, the donations remain unaccountable. But to be sure, not uncounted. US News
*excerpt* Mitt Romney: "I didn't refer to Islam at all, or to any other religion for that matter. I spoke about three major threats America faces on a long term basis. Jihadism is one of them, and that is not Islam. If you want my views on Islam, it's quite straightforward. Islam is one of the world's great religions and the great majority of people in Islam want peace for themselves and peace with their maker. They want to raise families and have a bright future. There is, however, a movement in the world known as jihadism. They call themselves jihadists and I use the same term. And this jihadist movement is intent on causing the collapse of moderate Muslim states and the assassination of moderate Muslim leaders. It is also intent on causing collapse of other nations in the world. It's by no means a branch of Islam. It is instead an entirely different entity. In no way do I suggest it is a part of Islam." California Conservatives, I’m the only conservative on the presidential ballot this year in California. The Left is split five ways. If you look over the candidate statements below you will see that I am the only one who even mentions our dependence upon God, our God-given, unalienable rights to life, liberty and property, secure borders, our right to keep and bear arms, marriage and the natural family, the Constitution, keeping the oath, private property, sovereignty, or self-government. http://www.voterguide.sos.ca.gov/candidates/us-president.htm Those fundamental items are, apparently, to paraphrase Romney, “not part of their campaigns.” Please help us unify conservatives right now to defeat Obama in your state, depriving him of California’s 55 electoral votes, which would almost certainly cost him the election. We can achieve the needed plurality to win. Romney and his people have no intention of even trying to win your state. They are treating it as nothing more than a piggy bank to help fund their campaign. And everyone knows it. So, we might as well make this election count for something for conservatism. We’re finishing up our ballot access projects in the other states right now, but I will soon be back on the ground in California, campaigning hard. If you are willing to help, contact me directly, and we will tie you into our growing network of California conservatives. Thank you, and may God bless you and yours. California Elections Code section 9084 requires that presidential candidate information be made available on the California Secretary of State's website.
From day one, [Alleged] President Obama took immediate action to put Americans back to work, stopping the bleeding and reversing the trend. He also began laying the foundation for a real recovery that has strong roots and a job-creating economy that’s built to last. We’re now at a make-or-break moment for the middle class. The President believes Americans should be able to earn enough to raise a family, send their kids to school, own a home and put enough away to retire. That can happen only when hard work pays off, responsibility is rewarded, and everybody plays by the same rules, does their fair share and has a fair shot at success. [Alleged] President Obama is fighting for an economy that’s built to last and built from the middle out, not the top down. That’s why his plan invests in education, innovation, infrastructure and energy, and asks the wealthiest to pay their fair share again to help create American jobs and responsibly reduce the deficit in a balanced way. We can’t afford to go back to the same failed policies that crashed our economy and devastated the middle class. We have to move forward.
Today nearly half of Americans are living in or near poverty. Wages are stagnant. Unemployment is devastating communities. And the super rich who collapsed the economy in 2008 are using the White House and Congress to enrich themselves at the expense of the rest of us. This is intolerable. I stand for a Green New Deal that will create 25 million new jobs and end the nightmare of unemployment in America. I will bring debt relief to our college graduates. I will end the Wall Street bailouts and replace the "too big to fail" banks with public institutions. I will offer simple government mortgages to keep people facing foreclosure in their homes. I will create green jobs to address pollution and climate change. And I will oppose trade agreements that destroy workers wages in America and move factories overseas. Every vote cast for me and my running mate, Cheri Honkala, is a clear call for a new deal that replaces corporate corruption with the wise, caring, and accountable government we deserve. I urge you to learn about the Green New Deal and to join me at JillStein.org.
I’ve spent most of my life in the private sector, where I helped launch or rebuild more than 100 companies, including Staples, Bright Horizons, and The Sports Authority. In 1999, the Winter Olympics were on the verge of collapse amid corruption allegations. I was asked to take over. I revamped the organization’s leadership, trimmed the budget, and restored public confidence. In the end, we staged one of the most successful games of all time. As Governor of Massachusetts, I cut taxes 19 times while balancing the budget four years in a row. I cut red tape for small businesses, signed into law job-creating incentives, and fought to bring businesses to the state. By the end of my term, the state had amassed a $2 billion rainy-day fund. As president, and with Paul Ryan as vice president, we’ll repeal the national healthcare law, get rid of job-killing regulations, open markets for American exports, and unlock America’s energy resources. We’ll reduce taxes and bring an end to runaway spending and borrowing in Washington. We’ll make the federal government simpler, smaller, and smarter. We’ll reverse defense cuts of the past three plus years, rebuild our military, and ensure that this century will be another American Century. Together we can create an Opportunity Society where hard work, education, and risk-taking allow people to achieve their dreams.
We’re one nation under God. The first sworn duty of every officer of government, at every level, in every branch, is to protect the God-given, unalienable rights to life, liberty, and private property of every person within their jurisdiction, from creation to natural death. The God-given institution of one man-one woman marriage and the natural family must be protected. The Right of the people to Keep and Bear Arms shall not be infringed. Our national sovereignty, security, and borders must be defended. Our republican form of representative self-government must be adhered to. The oath of office to support and defend the Constitution of the United States must be fulfilled. It is time for We the People to take our government back from those who are driving our once-free constitutional republic to destruction and bankruptcy. We must start now, for the sake of our children and grandchildren, who are being robbed of their God-given, unalienable right to government by consent by this generation’s creation of debts that we ourselves cannot possibly repay. This is why I am asking you for your vote, so that together, for the sake of our posterity, we may take a giant step toward the restoration of moral, constitutional government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Thank you, and may God save California, and America.
During my eight years as Governor, taxes were reduced 14 times, and never raised. I vetoed approximately 750 bills passed by the state legislature, in keeping with my determination to reduce the size and cost of state government. When I left office, being term limited, New Mexico had a budget surplus and private sector job creation had increased substantially. I am seeking the Office of President of the United States because the nation desperately needs that same kind of leadership today. Good government is easy when politics are put aside and common sense applied. I pledge to submit a balanced budget to Congress in 2013, to veto, as I did in New Mexico, any legislation that will result in deficit spending, and to create an environment of regulatory certainty that will allow the private sector to put Americans to work and let free people live their lives without fear of unnecessary government interference.
Most people in this country believe that everyone should have access to health care and education. Access should not be decided by the profit of insurance companies and other private institutions. But the politicians in our government currently serve their donors instead of voters. I want people to vote outside the box that perpetuates wars, gives our public funds to the banks, and destroys our economy and environment. Say NO to wholesale theft and YES to a government for the people. We have to start building alternatives now instead of submitting, time after time, to the threat of a “greater evil.” Remember that both evils have been doing the same evils once in office. Through my TV show, I reached ordinary people with messages of empowerment and resistance through fun and humor. As a candidate, I am again reaching people to ask them to vote outside the dominant parties and start building alternatives that represent the people. The Peace & Freedom Party has been one of those alternatives for 45 years. Vote for me and support a new wave of politics beyond the tired old game. Socialism – it’s not just for Wall Street, military contractors, or Congress anymore, but all Americans! The order of the candidate statements was determined by randomized alphabet drawing. Statements on this page were voluntarily supplied by the candidates and have not been checked for accuracy. "My policy has been, and will continue to be, while I have the honor to remain in the administration of the government, to be upon friendly terms with, but independent of, all the nations of the earth. To share in the broils of none. To fulfil our own engagements. To supply the wants, and be carriers for them all: Being thoroughly convinced that it is our policy and interest to do so."
-- George Washington, letter to Gouverneur Morris, 1795 Romney Republican-passed CR Funds Planned Parenthood, Obamacare, sterilizations, abortifacients...9/13/2012 House Republicans Pass Funding for Planned Parenthood, Obamacare and Regulation Forcing Catholics to Act Against Faith
CNS News The Republican-majority House of Representatives is now set to pass a $1.047 trillion bill funding the federal government through March 2013 that will permit funding for Planned Parenthood and ObamaCare--including the regulation that took effect on Aug. 1 that will require virtually all health plans in the United States to cover, without fees or co-pay, sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions. The bill would fund the government for six months into the new fiscal year and for almost five months after the November elections. The Catholic bishops of the United States have unanimously declared the Obamacare sterilization-contraception-abortifacient regulation an "unjust and illegal mandate" that violates the right to free exercise of religion not only of Catholic institutions but also of Catholic business owners and workers. The bill, a continuing resolution (CR), does not prohibit funding for either ObamaCare programs or Planned Parenthood. Nor does it stop the government from enforcing regulations, such as the mandate from the Health and Human Services Department that nearly all health insurance plans provide contraceptives, sterilizations, and abortion-inducing drugs free of charge. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), who supports the CR along with the GOP House leadership, earlier this year described the health insurance mandate as an “unambiguous attack on religious freedom in our country” and a violation of the First Amendment protecting the free exercise of religion. I will get every one of our best minds in a room and not let them out until we have a workable plan, ready to implement. "Obama's fighting for his life, his party is fighting for their life, and they're winning. This is, I've said all along, this is Romney's election to lose and by God he's losing," Caddell said. Seth Riggio
This is going to shock my friends and all of those that know me. But I have decided to officially endorse and support Tom Hoefling for President in 2012. My reasons are simple and those of you who know me also know that I would not make this decision unless I truly felt as if it was the only way to go in this upcoming election. It is with a heavy heart that I write this, I say this because I know that many of you will refuse to accept my reasons as legitimate. A few days ago Mitt Romney announced that he supported abortion in cases of rape, incest, and the life and health of the mother. As we all know Barack Obama supports abortion without any hesitation. What difference is there in these two men? What Mitt Romney said has been the pro-choice and pro-murder mantra for years. God will not give Wisdom to a man who supports and condones such an evil. Mitt Romney is also in favor of Homosexual couples adopting children. Barack Obama does the same. What difference is there if these men both agree that placing innocent children in homes where such perversion takes place. This entails that they both support this evil. "But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." Let me ask each of you a question. Would you marry someone who openly facilitates abortion to women? Would you marry someone who owns an adoption agency and knowingly allows homosexual couples to adopt from it? Even though you know that to place a child in a homosexual home is a sin against God? Now the only reason to vote for Mitt Romney over Barack Obama is that he is better for the economy. My mother recently told me the story of the Paul family. They lived next door to my mother as she was growing up and had immigrated to the United States after WWII. Mrs. Paul once told her that she had voted for Hitler before the war. When she was asked why she had done so Mrs. Paul said that the only reason for doing so was that Hitler was BETTER FOR THE ECONOMY. My friends. Since when is money more sacred than human life? Since when do we sell our moral voice for the chance at a better economy. I know what it is to not have a job and to be in debt. I have been unemployed and in debt for almost a year now, I am 23 years old and honestly it is terrible. But what right do I have to vote for a man willing to end a life so that I have a chance at a job? I am sorry, but that life ended and never had the chance to even be unemployed. WHAT ARE WE THINKING!!! We are supporting a man who is willing to allow innocence to be slaughtered. We are supporting a man who supports an abomination against God (homosexual couples) furthering their insult against the family by pretending to take care of children where the fact is all it does is cause these innocent children confusion and a perverse knowledge of right and wrong, good and evil, normal and perverted. I am done! FINISHED! In fact, I am sick of it. Evil can never be supported. Satan enjoys it when he can trick us into doing so. I am voting for Tom Hoefling, a good man who has time and time again proven to me that he is worth supporting. Nothing I can do is worth much, but if I die tomorrow I will stand in front of God and honestly be able to say, I in no way ever knowingly supported evil in my life. My vote, my voice, and my energy will be spent in his favor. In Christ, Seth J. Riggio FROM THE DESK OF DR. DAVID M. BERMAN TH.D
Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.” Dear Fellow Constitutional Patriot, I am writing this letter to officially endorse Tom Hoefling for President of The United States of America. There are several reasons why I have decided to vote for him. Tom is a rare breed indeed. He is a man that actually believes in the Constitution and is committed to the principles of liberty that our Creator has endowed us with. Let’s face it; the Republican Party is filled with lip service leaders that talk the Constitution while doing nothing to stand for it. They, along with the outright Marxist Democrats have destroyed our nation’s finances. Much worse yet, both have continued to allow and promote the murder of millions of unborn children. Tom is committed to ending the slaughter of the unborn. I have been a fighter for the Constitution and the principles of liberty for almost three decades. At first I fought within the Republican Party. I like so many others hoped that the Republican leadership was sincere in their lofty speeches about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What I found over and over was that they said one thing and did another. I am totally convinced that Tom is a man who believes in his heart with conviction before God that he must do the right thing when elected. As a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, I will no longer vote for the lesser of two evils because the lesser of two evils is still evil. As an American, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and one who has been working is the Constitutional movement way before anyone ever mentioned or heard of the Tea Party, I endorse Tom Hoefling for President. I hope my fellow American Constitutional patriots will do the same. The Democrats and the Republicans have deceived long enough. Vote Tom Hoefling for President and let’s get on with restoring this great nation to the principles of liberty. Respectfully, Rev. Dr. David M. The American Independent Party of California, in convention, nominated me today for the office of President of the United States. This gives us the 2012 presidential ballot line. My thanks to all who participated in the process, and to presidential candidates Wiley Drake and Virgil Goode, both of whom were present and who graciously released their delegates in order to make the final vote a unanimous one. We'll be commenting extensively in the days ahead on the events of today and the important ramifications of this nomination. It's time for pro-life, pro-liberty, pro-Constitution Reagan conservatives to once again have representation in California. Let's get it done! For Life, Liberty, and the Constitution, Tom Hoefling The Colorado Personhood Coalition submitted more than 121,000 signatures to the secretary of state on Monday to again put Personhood on the November ballot. Only 86,000 valid signatures were needed.
Congratulations Colorado! Since tonight's debate involves foreign policy, I thought it would be appropriate to share my response to an inquiry on this subject today:
What would justify the US military getting involved in a foreign conflict? Of course that is a difficult question to answer for someone in my position, for several reasons. Number one, I don't have the sort of information available to me that the commander-in-chief has. Number two, lacking that vital information, we are therefore not always able to easily see the whole strategic picture that would help guide our tactical considerations. I'm not dodging the question. I'm stating the facts. But, speaking generally, there are a number of situations that could lead us into war. Here are a few of them: 1. A threat to the lives, liberty, or property of the American people. 2. A threat to the sovereignty, security, or territory of the United States. 3. A threat to allies with which we have constitutionally-ratified and valid treaty obligations. 4. Strategic threats that could put any, or all, of the above, or the members of our armed forces, in peril. While the commander-in-chief has the obligation to respond appropriately and immediately to all such threats where time is of the essence, morally, constitutionally, and in terms of practicality, he cannot wage war for any length of time without the involvement of Congress, and, by extension, the American people they represent. Of course, great restraint is required at all times. Our people should not be sent into harm's way unless and until it is absolutely necessary. Would vital American interests have to be at stake in an obvious way or would we be justified, for example, in getting involved in, say Syria, to take out Assad? Based on the limited information that I have right now, no, I do not think direct American involvement in situations like we see right now in Syria are called for. ----- By the way, the last of three AIP of California presidential debates that I'm participating in is tonight, and the subject is foreign policy and defense. So, your questions are quite timely. The debate is at 9 pm Eastern, and the live link to listen can be found at the top of the thread at this link: Tom Hoefling to debate Virgil Goode [Last of 3 debates is tonight!] http://www.americaspartynews.com/talk/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=24214&posts=13 I know that my answers to your questions are brief, and therefore far from complete, but it's all I can muster the time for in the midst of a very, very busy schedule today. We can always explore these important matters more deeply on one of our twice-weekly America's Summit calls should you desire to do so. That link and information is here: http://www.americaspartynews.com/talk/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=7216&posts=9& Of course tonight's call is not taking place because of the debate, but we'll be back on schedule this Thursday night, Lord willing. Thanks for listening. For Life, Liberty and the Constitution, Tom Hoefling tomhoefling.com "We are, heart and soul, friends to the freedom of the press. It is however, the prostituted companion of liberty, and somehow or other, we know not how, its efficient auxiliary. It follows the substance like its shade; but while a man walks erect, he may observe that his shadow is almost always in the dirt. It corrupts, it deceives, it inflames. It strips virtue of her honors, and lends to faction its wildfire and its poisoned arms, and in the end is its own enemy and the usurper's ally. It would be easy to enlarge on its evils."
