(Atlantic) Republican Gubernatorial hopeful Tom Hoefling is working to get enough signatures to get his name on the June Primary ballot. Hoefling was in Pottawatttamie and Cass Counties (Thursday) today.
The 53-year-old father of eight from the Calhoun County town of Lohrville, says one of the main reasons he is working to get in this race against Branstad is the common core initiative.
“I call it the final blow for local control of our schools. It was brought into Iowa by Culver, but Branstad supports that. I say jokingly but it is true, the only Republican that supports common core lives on Terrace Hill.”
Hoefling needs 3,654 signatures by the March 14 filing deadline.
